CashApp founder, and tech executive, Bob Lee has been found dead. According to CBS Bay Area, he was stabbed to death in the early hours of Tuesday near downtown San Francisco.
Lee, 43, was the chief product officer of MobileCoin, a cryptocurrency startup headquartered in San Francisco. He also founded Cash App and was Square’s previous chief technology officer.
MobileCoin also issued a statement saying the founder had passed away, but it didn’t say how.
“Our dear friend and colleague, Bob Lee passed away yesterday at the age of 43, survived by a loving family and collection of close friends and collaborators,” the company’s statement said, describing Lee as “a dynamo, a force of nature … the genuine article.”

According to CBS Bay Area, the guy stabbed to death early Tuesday morning near downtown San Francisco was well-known tech executive Bob Lee. Officers responded to a stabbing complaint in the city’s Rincon Hill neighborhood around 2:35 a.m. and discovered the victim, who was brought to a hospital and died there, according to police.
The victim had not yet been identified by the city’s medical examiner’s office as of Tuesday evening, but friends of Lee informed CBS Bay Area that he was the victim.
No arrests have been made in the case, and San Francisco police have not published any information about potential suspects.
