The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, at the Edo State Annual Bank’s Dinner expresses his dissatisfaction about Nigeria’s age long dependence on oil for its economic growth and encouraged digital economy. He is vying for an inclusion of smart Information and Communication Technology (ICT) solutions as a substitute for oil so as to diversify the Nigerian economy.
The Governor stated the high possibility of the country’s economic stagnancy if it does not move beyond its dependence on oil and foreign exchange.
According to him, attention to the digital economy remains imperative to positively affect other sectors thereby, having a ripple effect on the economic recovery and Growth Plan of the Country.
According to the governor, Nigeria is not going to develop if citizens don’t utilise deposits and savings effectively to drive growth and advancement.
