Lagos State Government is now enforcing a yearly safety audit on co-working spaces and tech hubs. This is part of the Lagos State Safety Commission (LSC)’s responsibility to ensure the safety of lives and properties in the state.
According to the statement released, this safety audit would attract an annual #50,000 documentation fee and #150,000 certification fee payable to the LSC’s account.
Since the beginning of this month, tech hubs and the co-working spaces began receiving memos to expect a visit from Aquicorn Projects Limited. This will commence by the end of November.

The LSC was established in 2011 to oversee matters relating to the safety of peoples’ lives and properties. It also ensures safety in various institutions such as construction sites, manufacturing companies, and corporate services facilities.
The commission aims to proactively make safety a lifestyle in Lagos State, thereby maintaining the leading change in the country.
It has the power to formulate policies, provide advisory and regulatory body on safety-related issues. It is also there to help build a sustainable safety culture through a regulated safety system.

Aquicorn Projects Limited is a safety assessment company that helps to identify potential hazards and recommend measures in reducing them.
It was founded in 2018, and is into various services such as auditing, certification, and safety training services amongst others.
Same note was given some times back to private and public sectors (including schools) in the state, in which they were expected to come to visit the educational facilities without notice.
