Advanced technologies group, Uber has launched a new community called Uber Money, which includes a team within Uber working on financial products and technologies that deliver additional value, all at Uber speed. Some of the new features are Real-time Earnings, Uber debit account & Uber Debit Card, Uber Wallet, Uber Credit Card. This new platform provides financial services to both Uber drivers and riders. The credit cards are for riders and the debit cards are for drivers and in-app wallets.
Andrews J. Hawkins said in a report for The Verge and also published on My Broadband:
Drivers in the US (and other countries soon after) can sign up for a no-fee debit card that is linked to an account provided by Green Dot, financial technology and bank holding company headquartered in Pasadena, California. Uber is also offering drivers who sign up for the debit card cashback on gas starting at 3% and up to 6% for the highest tier of Uber Pro drivers.
While Uber drivers and Uber Eats couriers previously had to wait for weekly payments or cash out their earnings by using Instant Pay, they will now have real-time access to their earnings through an Uber Debit Account. We have also integrated this mobile bank account into the Uber Drive app.
Drivers will be able to keep track of their earnings and manage their money. This year, Uber money team also plans to get into the driver’s app the Uber debit account and debit card for drivers in the U.S, and later on will be made available to drivers in other countries. Uber Money is now in charge of Uber’s credit card, debit card, wallet for drivers, Uber Pay, Uber Cash, and other financial products Uber will be involved with in the future.
Interestingly, with the Uber Money feature added, drivers will have real-time access to their earnings after every trip through the Uber Debit Card. Uber has also decided to start offering cashback on gas starting at 3% to 6% for the highest tier of Uber Pro drivers. The debit card comes at a no-fee for the drivers and is linked to an account provided by Green Dot, a financial technology and bank company with its head office at Pasadena, California.
