Microfinance Bank, Parallex, has emerged as the Challenger Bank of the Year 2022 at the Businessday Banks and Other Institutions Awards held in Lagos.
The BAFI Awards is one of the most prominent events for recognizing impressive performance in Nigeria’s financial services industry. It focuses on celebrating organizations that have achieved excellence in the delivery of financial services across the customer space.
To be able to carefully select the winners, Businessday put them through rigorous assessment. They must also have a thorough understanding of the happenings in Nigerian banks.

Parallex Achievements
Though young, the fast-rising commercial bank was also able to acquire more awards. It earlier won the award for the most Innovative Young Commercial Bank in Nigeria at the Marketing Edge Awards.
It also won the Excellence in Agency Banking Award at the 2022 Finnovex Awards. And now, it has emerged as the Challenger Bank of the Year 2022.
The Bank’s Reaction
Reacting to the award, CEO and Managing Director, Olufemi Bakre, said, this shows the bank is on the right path.
“It is gratifying to note that just by staying true to the company’s core values of professionalism, innovation, excellence, customer centricity, and collaboration, Parallex Bank was adjudged the challenger bank of the year”.
Speaking further, Bakre said it started as a bank with a difference. They are keen to offer customers an extensive banking experience and connect with their customers’ needs.
He added that this reason made the bank unique in its mode of conducting business, offering customers free transfers to other banks. They also offer a monthly account maintenance fee on accounts.
He concluded by saying the bank went further to offer interest not only on savings accounts but also on current accounts.
