CEO of Risevest, Eke Urum, still allegedly maintains his position following allegations of workplace bullying and sexual harassment.
It was reported that an independent panel released the report of a six-week investigation into the conduct of the founder, which resulted in the committee asking him to step aside.
However, it has been reported that he still functioning effectively as Rivest CEO, which the company denied. According to them, Urum is only involved in the company’s investment arm.
Back Story
In August 2022, Urum was asked to step aside by the board of directors immediately after they were informed of the allegations.
With several reports flying around, the panel’s investigation did not prove the claims of sexual abuse. It was however able to reveal the admitted sexual relations with an employee and unwanted, inappropriate jokes and conversations, sexual impropriety. It also showed a pattern of abuse of power, intimidation, retaliation, and workplace bullying by him.
Rivest CEO No Longer In Position
Eke who spoke to Techcabal said he is no longer leading the team and has not been Rivest CEO for a long time. He also added that what he does at Rise, is to help direct the product and oversee the investment selection process.
Also speaking on this, the acting CEO of Risevest, Tony Odiba has this to say:
“I am still the acting CEO, and I run the overall operations of Rise. Eke is only involved in the company’s investment arm as he is one of our lead investment managers and still leads the overall product strategy as the panel recommended. All other aspects of the business are still under my purview.”
Conclusion
Two sources who wished to remain anonymous noted that the former CEO is not considering issuing any legal action against the allegations.
Currently, it is not clear whether he will go through that route, but Eke will share his side of the at some point.
