Apple just revealed the latest Apple M3 Chip and Macs at its Scary Fast event in October! Isn’t that interesting?
Apple’s computing division continues to push the boundaries of innovation, maintaining its reputation for groundbreaking advancements. Earlier this year, they wowed tech enthusiasts with the release of the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, featuring the formidable M2 Pro and M2 Max configurations.
Subsequently, they surprised the world with the debut of the first-ever 15-inch MacBook Air and unveiled the impressive Mac Studio and Mac Pro models at WWDC in June. Additionally, Apple teased a game-changing Vision Pro headset poised to revolutionize the computing landscape.
However, the tech giant shows no signs of slowing down. During their “Scary Fast” event in October, Apple unveiled a new lineup of Mac computers that may just be their most captivating offerings yet. Held in the evening at their Cupertino headquarters, the event saw Tim Cook and the company’s product executives introduce new MacBook Pros and a revamped 24-inch iMac, all powered by Apple’s latest and greatest M3 processors.
The highlight of this year’s Apple event was undoubtedly the introduction of the new M3 chipset series, including the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max versions. Notably, the M3 Pro and M3 Pro Max come with a new, faster, and more efficient engine, boasting a 60% increase in speed compared to their predecessor, the M2. Here’s a summary of the major highlights from this exciting event.

Apple’s Cutting-Edge Silicon: The M3 Chipset
As mentioned, the centerpiece of the event was Apple’s introduction of their latest silicon – the M3 chips, representing a remarkable leap in processing power. These chips, which include the M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max, are manufactured using an advanced 3-nanometer process.
This new generation of M3 chips succeeds the 5nm process of the M2 chips and aligns with the A17 Pro chip found in the new iPhone 15 Pro.
The 3nm transistors enable Apple to significantly enhance the GPU performance of their Mac computers, delivering up to 1.8 times faster graphics performance compared to the M2 chip.
Moreover, the efficiency cores receive a substantial boost, with a 30% improvement over the M2 series and a 50% improvement over the M1 series.
What’s particularly noteworthy is that these chips mark the first-ever personal computer chips crafted using this advanced 3nm process, promising both faster and more efficient performance. The M3 chips come equipped with an upgraded GPU, supporting features like ray tracing, mesh shading, and Dynamic Caching, which optimizes memory usage during tasks. The flagship M3 Max chip is a behemoth, boasting 92 billion transistors, a 40-core GPU, and a 16-core CPU, along with up to 128GB of unified memory.
14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro
Apple also unveiled the latest 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pro models, now powered by the M3 Pro and M3 Max chips. These laptops feature Mini LED displays, high-quality 1080p cameras, a robust six-speaker sound system, an impressive 22 hours of battery life, and support for up to 128GB of RAM. The sleek space black finish not only enhances aesthetics but also resists unsightly fingerprints.
According to Apple, the M3 Max models, in particular, are twice as fast as the M2 Max models released in January. The 14-inch MacBook Pro starts at $1,999, while the 16-inch model with the M3 Pro chip starts at $2,499. Preorders are available immediately, with shipping scheduled to commence on November 7th.

Apple’s beloved 24-inch iMac received a much-needed refresh during the “Scary Fast” event. Most of the improvements were under the hood, with the introduction of the new base-level M3 chip, replacing the M1.
This upgrade promises twice the performance of its M1-equipped predecessor. The revamped iMac now sports a vibrant 4.5K Retina display with over a billion colors, Wi-Fi 6E support, and a crisp 1080p webcam.
Furthermore, it is available in seven lively colors and offers configurations with up to 24GB of unified memory. Preorders for the 24-inch iMac start immediately, with availability slated for November 7th. Prices begin at $1,299 for the eight-core CPU model and $1,499 for the ten-core version.
Entry-Level MacBook Pro without Touch Bar
In addition to the M3 Pro and M3 Max MacBook Pros, Apple introduced a more affordable 14-inch MacBook Pro featuring the base M3 chip, with prices starting at $1,599. This model replaces the 13-inch MacBook Pro with an M2 chip and boasts up to 60% improved performance.
Notably, the Touch Bar has been discontinued in this entry-level model, which is available in silver and space grey. Preorders for this model are already open, and it will be officially available on November 7th.
